Preface
General information
ÖsterreichWith numerous lakes, green valleys and diversified mountains Austria presents itself as an ideal holiday country. Up and down to the valley discovery tours offer themselves to pilgrimage churches, castles, palaces and mountain farms hundred years of age. Stroll in traditional market places and relax in hidden public baths. Hike for example through the valleys of Inn, Lech and Ziller, on sun-blessed high plateaus, to original mountain villages or ice-covered peaks.
Learn the history of the Salzes, who gave the city and country Salzburg their names. You can explore the baroque city centre of Salzburg on Mozart's traces, or the "little paradise" between Salzkammergut and Hohen Tauern: the imperial city Bad Ischl, Bad Gastein, the Grossglockner street and the world's largest glacier cave.

Take a walk in the historic Old Town of Vienna, along the circular road to the famous museums and magnificient buildings. Get acquainted with Palace Schönbrunn and Palace Belvedere – or with the hidden corners of the suburbia built in Biedermeier style and the trip destinations in Vienna Woods.

Austria attracts with castle hotels and mountain magic, ski slopes and the Großer Oper, museums and national parks and with culinary treats like the Salzburger Nockerln and the apple strudel. This holiday destination country is certainly worth a visit.

We are looking forward to you and will gladly guide you.

The Austrian cuisine
In the past few years Austria evolved into a real gourmet paradise. Ambitious agriculturalists, wine makers and innkeepers have rediscovered and brought their originality closer to perfection. From the many exquisite things that flourish between Neusiedlersee and Bodensee, between hills and high mountain pastures, products of highest quality appeal to the epicures.
Typical main dishes are Wiener Schnitzel, Tafelspitz (boiled fillet of beef), gulasch, roast pork and bread dumplings, Bauernschmaus (farmers' feast) and the bismarcks (a kind of cruller). For a light meal you can have bread and cheese or bacon, sausages and marinated grey cheese.
Confection of pastry is a special feature of the Austrian cuisine, meaning desserts, e.g. Kaiserscharm, Salzburger Nockerln, pancakes or Marillenknödel (dumplings filled with apricot) and Zwetschgenknödel (dumplings filled with plum). The tradition of Wiener coffee houses goes back to the time of Turkish wars. In this time not only did the custom of drinking coffee emerge, but also arised the tradition of turning the coffee house into an extended living room. Reading, meditation and discussing matters - these can always be done here. Coffee is drunken in numerous forms, from which the most popular ones are "Verlängerter" (long coffee), "Wiener Melange" (white coffee), "Großer Brauner" (like macchiato) or "Kleiner Brauner" (small coffee with few milk).
